Hands Off My Pecker is a chaotic and comical card game where players compete to protect their cards while sabotaging their opponents. I was brought on board as the vector illustrator to bring this eccentric concept to life with bold, character-driven artwork that perfectly captures the game’s offbeat energy and irreverent tone.
The result? A flock of outrageous animals, dynamic card illustrations, and a vibrant visual identity that’s as playful as the game itself.
As the final illustrator, I was responsible for the creating the vector artwork and character development of the game. My contribution included:
Illustrating based on the original sketched character designs
Card illustration and colour schemes
Box art and packaging main image
Establishing a cohesive style and humorous tone
Working closely with the game’s design team, I helped create the visual language that would instantly convey the game’s cheeky personality and appeal to its adult audience.
We began with pre-supplied sketches to explore tone — the goal was a style that blended British wit, classic cartoon energy, and just the right amount of absurdity. Each bird character needed to feel expressive, memorable, and instantly readable on a small card format.
Key creative decisions included:
Using exaggerated expressions and postures to reinforce gameplay action
Designing iconic silhouettes to ensure recognisability across a crowded play area
Incorporating hidden visual gags that reward close attention and repeat play
The final artwork was created from scratch with clean vector lines and a bold, graphic palette to ensure print clarity.
Since its launch, Hands Off My Pecker has been a hit with players looking for something offbeat and hilariously unpredictable. The game’s illustrations have been praised for adding a whole new layer of personality and humour to gameplay.
Successfully launched as an indie game with a strong fanbase
Built visual brand recognition through character design
Contributed to player enjoyment and replay value through humorous art
I love working on projects that mix humour, character design, and bold storytelling visuals. If you're creating a card game, board game, book, or animation with a quirky twist, I'd love to hear from you.
