This was a project in collaboration with Trunk Creative to create a character design to be used for the logo and promotion of the Great Alaska Martial Arts Tournament. The brief was to take a particular breed of dog (the Malamute) and create a cartoon character of the dog in a high kicking action typical of many martial arts practices. We tried a couple of variations initially as can be seen from the sketches below, before deciding on the final character’s facial expression and colouring. You can see how the final character was used with the logo below and the first vector version of the illustration with alternative face colour/markings.
