New content added to my graphic design portfolio

Just added some new content to my graphic design portfolio. Several new examples of my work created for various clients including vehicle livery, a boards, banner stands and the Vanilla Magazine (which is the quarterly online magazine I create for Vanilla Recruitment).

December the sixth. Another reindeer has arrived!

Didn't quite manage an illustration a day! Oh well never mind, but I will try to add at least many more before Christmas (vague alert!). Here's another reindeer who's very happy that Christmas is on it's way. Season's Greetings everyone!

PS For the eagle eyed amongst you, you'll notice I've changed the reindeer's feet from the previous Rudolf post to look, well...more reindeer like! Enjoy!

December the first! Christmas is coming!! Rudolf is here!!!

It's December the 1st today! The best month of the year is upon us! It's now officially the countdown to Christmas, and with it the prospect of no work, too much food and drink and a chance to spend a bit of time with the important people in your life. To celebrate my excitement at this special time of year I'm going to try to add a brand spanky new festive illustration every day until (and maybe including) Christmas day!

Can I do it? (Can I be bothered?) Time will tell, but above is my first cartoon for the first of the month! Rudolf rocks yeehaa!

My new style of illustration...(doggy)

Howdy folks! I've been playing with a new style (for me) of illustrating. I normally favour a more detailed and solid style of illustration as you can see from the examples scattered around this site. I usually get a bit too excessive when working on an illustration or cartoon, and I spend ages fussing with the lines, the highlights and the shading. All that means creating a new design takes me an absolute age!

So, I've decided to play with this new style of illustration in an attempt to speed up the creative process, whilst still keeping to my recognised way of creating characters. Here's my new way of illustrating. Still vectors of course, but far more loose...

Rabbit Rooter van graphics. Red's on the move!

I created 'Red' the cheeky rabbit character earlier this year for the Pennsylvania drainage company Rabbit Rooter. (You can check out my earlier posts about him here and here). I've just received these images below showing how the character and logo are going to be used on their new vans.

I think they look absolutely fab and sure to really get the vans noticed when they're out and about clearing drains and doing general plumbing stuff! I'm looking forward to seeing 'Red' appearing in more places around the web and on Rabbit Rooter's promotional stuff, and will be sure to post the pics when I have them!

Teachers and Headteachers. Anyone up for a strike?

Whether you agree with the decision to strike by the teaching professionals here in the UK or not. Whether you believe that working longer and paying more to ensure that the juicy pension pot is nice and ripe at retirement is totally unfair; or perhaps you think that working for the public sector in education and receiving outstanding benefits in old age is unsustainable and that the 'goose' is running low on 'golden eggs'. Either way then this stern fellow will ensure you will join in with the impending strikes and you will not answer back!

YOU WILL STRIKE, YOU WILL NOT ANSWER BACK OR YOU WILL FEEL THE BIRCH! 

Chill out dudes!

It's the weekend again! Hurrah! Time to kick back, relax and enjoy those brief moments of freedom away from the responsibilities and ties of the working week (apologies to anybody who works weekends). Have a good one and enjoy life, just like my little hippy friend here (who doesn't seem to have any trousers on?!)

The logo designs that didn't quite make it!

I've recently been busy adding a load of 'never before seen' artwork to my various portfolio galleries. There's quite a lot of new stuff in general, but especially in the 'logos' section of my portfolio.

When coming up with a logo for any company there's obviously a lengthy design process that involves lots of different thoughts, concepts, designs and ideas. This can sometimes lead to some extremely varied designs from which the client choose a favourite and eventual winner. The unwanted designs unfortunately get left behind whilst the one winning design gets developed into the final logo. Sometimes these 'losers' aren't necessarily bad, just simply not right!

So, rather than let these design orphans go unloved any longer I've decided to boost their confidence and give them their own galleries. Check them out and let me know whether you think the clients made the right decisions and chose the best logo for the job! Oh, and if you can give any of the orphans a good home then we can start the rehoming process immediately! Loser logos 01 and loser logos 02!

For all you super, wonderful and charitable guys (or gals?) growing a juicy moustache for Movember then this post is just for you! I know that developing that facial hair is probably making you itch and rub your top lip incessantly, but stick with it! You're doing a good thing and the World thanks you for your efforts! Well done you!

Let me know how your 'tache is coming on if you're growing one. Mine is a little too whispy for my liking but I will perservere!
