This is the latest frog illustration for the Leicester company Warning Zone. He is to appear on an invitation for a chocolate making and tasting event being held by Chocolate Alchemy the Loughborough based chocolatiers. I've been working on a mysterious and wise new character/logo design project recently. The business is called VAT Wizard and a character was needed that would be fun and memorable and could also be used as the company logo. After several sketched ideas (see here) I came up with the magic man below. He will appear on business cards and letterheads (coming soon) and on any adverts and promotional material for the company. I have created a couple of ads that are currently in print to promote the new business, and the new website is currently in development. As usual would love to know what you think. Enjoy!
Just finished this little illustration for Keep Shooting Photography. Chris at Keep Shooting is a great photographer and came up with this concept to help promote his Baby Grow photography service. The idea is to have a pic of your baby in each white square depicting a professional photographic record of your baby's story, from bump to birth and the wonderful ever changing early months of their life. I've added a new sketches page to the 'portfolio' section of my website. It doesn't matter what you're designing, usually the first stages of any project are the initial sketches. It matters not whether they are doodles or scribbles or even how good they are, it's always good to let your brain run free and let the ideas flow.
Personally I start all my projects with a good old fashion pencil and paper. I love the freedom and feel of a sharp 2B on some crisp white sheets! You'll find some random examples of my sketches and early stages of designs. Many ideas never actually make it to a final piece of finished artwork so it's a shame to keep them hidden away.
Here they are in all their glory, rough around the edges but also containing that all important 'spark' of an idea. Enjoy!
I created a load of lightning or glow bugs a while back. Not sure why, I simply had the urge! They have been sitting on my hard drive ever since, so thought I would give them a little showcase and introduce them to the World! I might try to add them to my iStock portfolio along with the other load of illustrations I have hiding on my hard drive! Feel free to comment below or share with your friends. enjoy!
I'm currently working on a project for a client to create some new characters. I thought it would be interesting to film the entire process right from sketches through to the final vector artwork. It's still very early days in the project but here is a sneaky look at the very first stage of design showing some quick sketches.

The Olympic Torch came through my town of Market Harborough yesterday. It was a bit wet but all good fun and a really great atmosphere despite the weather! Looking forward to the big show and hopefully the sun will shine by the end of the month and help make London 2012 a real success!
